ReplayQA works with the screen recorder you already use. If a video shows one flow on your web app from start to finish, ReplayQA can turn it into an automated test. There's no recorder to install and no new habit to learn.
Recorders that work
ReplayQA accepts MP4 and WebM files. That covers almost every recorder:
| Recorder | How to get the file |
|---|---|
| Loom | Download the video from Loom; it saves as MP4 |
| macOS (Screenshot toolbar or QuickTime) | Saves as MOV; export or convert to MP4 |
| Windows Snipping Tool | Saves screen recordings as MP4 |
| Xbox Game Bar (Windows) | Saves as MP4 |
| OBS Studio | Set the recording format to MP4 |
| ReplayQA Chrome extension (optional) | Records the tab and uploads it for you |
Which existing videos make good tests
Not every recording is a good test. The best ones:
- Show one flow, such as signing up or placing an order, not a tour of the whole product.
- Start on a known page, ideally with the browser's address bar visible. If it isn't, type the starting address when you upload.
- End on the result, such as a confirmation message or a new record, for a couple of seconds.
- Use test data, not a real customer's account.
Demo videos with lots of detours or narration over still screens are better re-recorded. It takes a minute, and the test will be cleaner.
From recording to automated test
- Download the video as an MP4 or WebM.
- Upload it to ReplayQA and give the flow a name.
- AI writes the steps: each click, typed value, choice and date, plus a final check.
- Validate it: ReplayQA plays the steps back in a real browser and saves the test when they pass.
- Replay it before every release, on its own or in a suite.
Make it part of how your team already works
If your team already records a walkthrough when a feature ships, or when a bug is fixed, those recordings can become your test suite. One upload per flow is all it takes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn a Loom video into an automated test?
Yes. Download the Loom recording as an MP4 and upload it to ReplayQA. If it shows one flow on a web app from start to finish, ReplayQA writes the test steps, proves them in a real browser and saves the test.
Do I need the Chrome extension?
No. Any recorder that saves MP4 or WebM works. The extension is optional, for recording straight from the browser.
What if the address bar isn't visible?
Enter the page the video starts on when you upload. ReplayQA reads the rest from the video.
Does narration or audio matter?
No. ReplayQA reads what happens on screen. Talking over the recording is fine.
